Shu Uemura Abracadabra Fantasy Makeup Demo

The Shu Uemura counter at Tangs Orchard held a special event for members earlier today.

Aside from double points, there was also a lucky draw and gifts for members who made purchases during the event.

I had already hauled several items from the collection back in end October so I didn't purchase anything today. My main interest was in the makeup demonstration. The MUA used the Reindeer Kiss xxxx Palette on the model as a more fun alternative for the holiday party season.

First, she used her finger tip to apply the light gold cream highlighter shade all over the lid. She used her fourth finger in a vertical downward motion, as the fourth finger is the weakest and hence, the most gentle.

This was followed by applying the pale mint shade over the eye socket area with an eyeshadow brush. To achieve better colour payoff, the MUA recommended doing small brush strokes in a series of steps across the lid instead of one long sweep across the length of the lid.

Next, she applied the blue shade with a smaller brush along the upper lashline and the outer half of the lower lashline. To make the eyes look more awake, she applied the silver shade at the inner corners.

She used a flat eyeliner brush to line both the upper lashline and lower lashline with the brown creamliner shade.

Explaining that black eyeliner can sometimes too harsh while brown can be too light, the MUA applied the Sparkly Purple Crayon over the brown creamliner for greater definition.

The next step was to apply the Dream Coaster Lashes. After bending the lashes a few times to soften up the "bone", the MUA used the broad end of the Eyelash Applicator to spread the glue on the bone. It's important to wait for a couple of minutes to allow the glue to semi-dry and become tacky before applying it to the eyelid, otherwise it will tend to slip and slide around if it is too wet. The glue is white when first applied to the bone but it will turn transparent after it has dried.

The MUA used the tweezer-like end of the Eyelash Applicator to apply the lashes and then adjust it into the desired position by gently nudging it. While Shu Uemura's false lashes are pricier than most other brands, they can be used up to 20 times if handled properly. The lashes are actually also handcrafted lash by lash.

Check out the super lush lashes!

The MUA applied the pink blush on the apples of the cheeks in a gentle left-right motion.

The final step in completing the look was to apply the lipstick. The MUA explained that using a lip brush deposits less product on the lips (compared to applying straight from the tube) while allowing you better control in defining the lip line and achieving the desired intensity. If I recall correctly, she used PK336, which is a universally flattering soft creamy pink with good colour payoff.

I also got to meet Esther, a very lovely lady who's a fellow beauty blogger, at the event. Do check out her blog, Floral Parasol!

The door gift was the Phyto-black Lifting Anti-wrinkle Essence, Phyto-Black Smoothing Anti-wrinkle Emulsion and puRENovate Clarifying Balancing Moisturiser.

Below is the ingredients list for the Anti-wrinkle Essence.

And the puRenovate moisturiser.

Thanks for reading and I hope the write-up is useful for those of you who own the Reindeer Kiss palette!

yes thanks, it's really helpful :D
I didn't want to attend the demo as I was afraid of hauling more products that I need. But glad you did a write up on it, as I've gotten a reindeer palette the other day, after reading your review.

hi,
If you mean me in the pic with Esther, I can't remember what eyeshadow I was using as this was several months ago.

If you mean the model, I think it's the light gold cream eyeshadow from the palette under the pale mint shade.
